README

@blueforge-studio/gas-asset-schema

GAS asset identity — the shared brick for addressing assets across BlueForge repos: open-vocabulary asset kinds (gas:// refs, custom:<slug> extension) and content-addressed asset references (Zod schemas).

Sibling of @blueforge-studio/gas-passport-schema (verification manifests) and @blueforge-studio/gas-lore-schema (lore vocabularies) — deliberately its own package so asset addressing can move without forcing a release on every lore consumer.

Surface

  • GAS_ASSET_KINDS — the 14 known kinds (const tuple; the type is derived from it so schema and type cannot drift).
  • GasAssetKindSchema — open: known names or custom:<slug>. The closed set is a convenience default, not a ceiling.
  • GasAssetIdSchema — gas://<kind>/<name>[@semver].
  • GasAssetRefSchema — { id, variant?, licence?, contentHash? }, strict.
  • validateAssetRef() — structured warnings, never throws.

The contentHash rule

contentHash is staged: optional and verified when present, required only once a resolver exists. CAS refs resolve storage, not semantic version — pin freely for immutable binaries (meshes), sparingly for authored content (biomes, lore), where a typo fix must not invalidate referencing documents.

Conventions

Same as the other schema packages (gas-lore-schema spec §2): Zod is the source of truth, entities .strict(), fields camelCase, enum values snake_case, extension values custom:<slug>. Validation helpers return warnings and never throw.
